Hi, I'm looking for classic book suggestions that don't end in tragedy, to listen to at work.
I've already been through Austen, Alcott, Brontes, Gaskell, LM Montgomery, and Emma Orczy. I prefer character-focused narratives to action-focused. I don't mind if a story is grim in the beginning/middle, but please no tragic endings. Romance is unnecessary.
Have tried Dickens, but while I enjoy his characters and his use of language, the prose is often too much to follow while I'm working. Recently I've enjoyed Innocents Abroad, Connecticut Yankee, and Sherlock Holmes.
