I love books by authors such as Cathy Glass or Casey Watson (foster carers) that detail their foster children’s lives and outcomes (sometimes). Obviously they have parts changed for privacy so I don’t mind it, but on the whole it’s true.

I also loved the book Maid by Stephanie Land and am looking forward to her new release shortly, Class so that’s on my list.

Two pence to cross the Mersey and Chinese Cinderella are also firm favourites. While I didn’t enjoy A Child Called It as much it’s still the genre I like.

Can you suggest more like this?

    1. This is not what you’re currently looking for but might be something you’d consider trying, although it’s somewhat dark in places due to its factual nature and age of the innocent subjects

“Before We Were Yours” by Lisa Wingate

Composite characters based on a true, tragic story

The audiobook book narration of the young girl’s first person pov was amazing. Has two alternating pov stories, past and current that come together in the end.
