This is probably a weird question but as someone who has **never** in my life read a book, it sparked my interest in that “hobby” and something that I maybe could do to relax. All my life I’ve been watching movies, series and playing games. There are some movies or games where I can feel my heartbeat, I can also feel the adrenaline and dopamine inside my body which makes as crazy as it might sound my relaxing activity, to just forget all the bad things happening in life. That’s my activity to escape life for a while.

I wouldn’t have created this post if I wasn’t open to trying something new, I also got interested in buying a Kindle, but buying a Kindle wouldn’t make a big difference If I just can’t get into reading.

The point of this post is me asking if you can ever get so invested in reading something like watching a movie or playing a game, the idea of me sitting somewhere and just stare at a screen with words just seems “boring” especially after doing something “active” like playing games. On the other hand I kinda want to get into books, I am a huge admirer for Art which I think movies, books and games count to. The best part of all these activities is having the opportunity to be in a different situation and experience someone’s different story, like for example when I watch the Harry Potter movies it give’s me a sense of warmth and the feeling of childhood where life was easier and I could escape in a world full of magic.

What would you recommend me? I kinda feel lost because reading seems like an attractive hobby but at the same time feels so boring…

I watch movies and play video games but I can be way more entertained by some books. I can’t really explain which psychological mechanism is at play. Maybe because I have to enter the book’s world, it feels more real to me and all the emotions I feel end up amplified?

I wouldn’t be able to recommend you a starting point with the infos you’ve shared. What kind of games and movies are you into?

    2. Books are more fun than video games and films for me. However, it’s a matter of trying to find what you like.

I would start with Young Adult novels like Percy Jackson or the Hunger Games or even Harry Potter

    3. In my humble opinion books are WAY more fun than video games. But… to each their own!
