If you're familiar with the show Over the Garden Wall, that's kind of the vibe I'm thinking of…the fall harvest, 19th century americana-type aesthetic. Almost a pastoral vibe? OTGW is a lightly creepy & unsettling show, so I'm fine with Southern gothic-type horror as well as long as it's not *too* scary or depressing lol. The Wind in the Willows and maybe Coraline are the only stories I know that have a similar feel to them.

I'd prefer a fantasy book to fit with Halloween, but other genres work too!

    1. I’d recommend The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving and Far From the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy. Good stuff.

    2. Not super cozy but the first book that comes to mind is Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury.
