I’m 22 and absolutely adored fantasy books my whole life. However they have always tended to be more YA. I want to read things that are more… significant, but still fiction. I recently read “This is How You Lose the Time War” and absolutely adored it, I got lost in the characters, I loved untangling what was happening, and learning new words.

I don’t necessarily need books with the same purple prose, in fact if that book was longer it would have been too much. I want books with more, deeper substance.

Other books that I have recently read and enjoyed are: Mark of the Fool series, Mother of Learning series (adored that one), the Mage Errant series, American Gods (honestly a bit overrated, but enjoyable enough), the Seven Realms and sequel series Shattered Realms, the Godling Chronicles, and all the books by B.T. Narro are fabulous.

Wow I must have stopped reading a while.. I grew up on fantasy and don’t know any of the books or authors you mentioned!

I do have a huge fantasy collection. If you’d like some suggestions for classics or retro stuff glad to help, what are you enjoying exactly and what are you looking for?

Bigger or more original? Smaller and relationship focused or 1000s of characters in massive worlds? A few examples out of many!
