I just finished To Sleep in a Sea of Stars by Chris Paolini – it’s a first contact novel, but decidedly less “sweet” than the relationship that develops in Hail Mary. Lots of blowing things up and battle scenes. And it was ENTIRELY too easy for everyone to communicate. But there are still some cool and interesting ideas he has about encountering alien civilizations and what that might look like.
