I apologise in advance if this does not paint a clear picture. I am also new to this sub.
I am not a reader. I have a fairly average collection of books that are mostly scientific or philosophical in nature, though I’m not opposed to fiction (except for sci-fi, I don’t like that). I like pieces of fiction that are either pretty realistic or ones that don’t shy away from embracing the fictitious aspect (no middle ground, essentially).
I think I would enjoy a book centred around introspection. However, it doesn’t have to be in first person. The books should, ideally, minimise the spotlight on the outside world and supporting characters, and should instead focus on mapping out the main character in detail.
The main character should ideally have some underlying conflict that they grapple with throughout the story, preferably before the beginning. I do not require a resolution to this conflict or the story as a whole.
I would appreciate a decent level of depth and nuance to the story as well.
I hope this doesn’t break the sub’s rules; thanks.
