I'm looking for a historical book about the trans Atlantic slave trade and slavery in the US. Something that details how the slave trade operated, its influence on the economy of the time, it's social norms, and what life was like for slaves on the plantations etc

I don’t know if you’re looking for fiction or non-fiction. I will suggest Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi. It follows a family through various generations and how their lives turn out due to the slave trade.
For non-fiction, I read Kidnapped Prince:The Life of Olaudah Equiano by Ann Cameron. You can also read the actual autobiography of Olaudah Equiano. It follows him being kidnapped from Benin and going all over the world as a slave to his eventual freedom.
