Or just generally very engaging fiction. I typically read nonfiction, but have been trying to read more fiction. I love a beautiful audiobook performance and memoirs too. Also interested in any books that got you reading fiction again!

I recently read and very much enjoyed -Tomorrow, and, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow
    -Piranesi by Susanna Clarke
    -Galeta, Madeline Miller
    -The School for Good Mothers
    -What Belongs to You
    -Vagabonds! Eloghosa Osunde
    -Freshwater, Akwaeke Emezi

    I also had fun reading:
-The adventures of Amina Al Sarafi, Shannon Chakraborty
    -murder bot series, Martha wells

    1. They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera has such an interesting world and premise imo. And yes, the title is literal.
On a much darker vein, the Wicker King by K Ancrum. Both are YA.

Three Body Problem and Dune are obvious recommendations for sci fi, but still.

And personally I love the worlds in Brent Weeks’ Night Angel trilogy and Lightbringer series. Fantasy novels.

This one is probably controversial, but the Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles. I think most people who read it don’t read it right, and I very much had to kind of sit in a certain mindset to really read this properly. But this book really affected me, and I had to take a break and not read anything for several days after finishing it. Never had that experience with anything I’ve read before or since.

Assassins Apprentice (Farseer Trilogy) by Robin Hobb. Beautiful writing. Character driven (some ppl think it’s slow, but i loved experiencing the book through the character development). Excellent environment, although it isn’t much of a world building book.

You’ve probably already read it, but top notch world building would be The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. I won’t elaborate too much but a quick internet search will let u know the caliber of this book ..and series.

Ofc i have to recommend The Fifth Season by N K Jemisin. Has it all.. environment, characters, excellent writing, great story.

I would also recommend The Book of Koli by M R Carey. The audio performance imo was great,, and the world building was really interesting. Post apocalyptic setting.. small village in the middle of a forest that kills you if enter. This is from the cover description btw.., not from me spoiling it. I really liked the narrator in this one.

If you’re up for a series and a slow burn of world building, I highly recommend the October Daye books. The first one is titled rosemary and rue
