I know that I am more than likely overthinking this. I have decided to participate in banned books week this year. I have looked through many of the lists of books banned at certain locations in the U.S and even some other countries. However, there are books that are currently banned or being challenged, then there are those that historically were and no longer seem to be. Do historically banned books count? I know some are still banned or challenged to this day in some places, but not all of them.
I am thinking of reading Clan of the Cave Bear. It was banned at one library in the early 90’s. I know that controversy follows it. I believe they removed it from some shelves in Florida not long ago, but then returned them back to shelves after a settlement. I haven’t read it, no spoilers please.
Would it count? Would any historically banned (but no longer)book count? I know I am probably overthinking this >_<
But I just want to be sure if it’s any book currently or historically banned OR only currently banned/challenged (somewhere) books. Thanks!
