I’m so bored by petty dramas, overdone tropes and overly happy endings. I want to feel a connection to the society, witness, huge losses as well as wins, commentary on society, religion, the patriarchy, feminism or all of the above. MC could be anyone, but diversity in gender, sex, race and species is a must. I just want it to feel real! Love a crazy twist or revelation.
Nothing much has matched The Gate to Women’s Country by Sheri Tepper for me. The Poppy War was amazing, and I’ve almost finished Against a Dark Background, but haven’t read any more of Iain Banks’ work, but lovinggg this one with 3 hours to go.
