Hi All,
My girlfriend is going thorough a tough time in her life and has found an out in books. She took up reading recently and has been in a much better place ever since.
I want to support her and give her some more books she hopefully enjoys. I am looking for suggestions that are light-hearted and helps gain positive insight towards life and makes her feel better. She does not do well with self-help kind of books so not looking for those.
One other category she enjoys are mysteries/thrillers that are not too serious or dark.
She also seems to enjoy female authors more. Maybe she relates to them better?
Would appreciate any suggestions
TIA and Cheers!

Legends And Lattes, by Travis Baldree
{{Too Many Curses by A. Lee Martinez}}. Optimistic if scary fairy tale.
Remarkably bright creatures and house in the Cerulean Sea
Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote
Cannery Row by John Steinbeck
This is the kind of post where someone will inevitably suggest *A Psalm for the Wild-Built* by Becky Chambers, so I may as well be that someone this time! 🙂 It’s the lovliest, most gentle and positive book I have read in a long time.
I’ll suggest *VenCo* by Cherie Dimaline. It’s contemporary witches and it’s subversive and clever and a bit edgy.
The Wee Free Men
by Terry Pratchett
Monstrous Regiment
by Terry Pratchett

Real mood lifters. The Wee Free Men feels like a well-rounded fairy tale with wit and wonder. Monstrous Regiment showcases absurdity and overt comedy and is a perfectly light read for autumn.
“Now is not the Time to Panic” by Kevin Wilson
Shady hollow is a great book! I don’t know if I would technically describe it as having a positive outlook, but it is a really nice cozy mystery. And the character are all animals which is just so great.
The Number One Ladies’ Detective Agency series by Alexander McCall Smith.
Light-hearted but profound mysteries, gentle and uplifting, and the main message is a joyful, optimistic approach to life.
There are around 30 books in the series, so plenty to enjoy! Although they are written by a man, the main character is a strong, positive woman.
I hope that helps! 🙂
