Hi everyone,
I’m looking for books for my 8 year old daughter. She is very smart, creative, very social and very mature, but also going through a rough period of growing up that is filled with self doubt, tough perfectionism, wanting to fit in, and with very harsh self talk. I do not remember this happening to me so young, but here we are.
We are already working with a therapist and the school social worker to help her feel better and build up her emotional intelligence as she is very reactive and will get very upset over the slightest thing. As parents, we are taking all the parenting and self-healing courses and therapies in order to support her.
It will be a journey, but we are ready to walk it with her. She loves to read, so books are one of the ways we are working through it.
She will not read picture books anymore because she thinks that’s baby-ish, and most books I found online on the matter seem to be directed towards tweens and teens, probably covering many subjects she shouldn’t have to read about yet.
I’m open to fiction, non fiction, books outside the box, hard covers, soft covers, ebooks… even tv shows for that matter.
Any suggestions?
PS: if you read up to here, thank you 🙏🏼
