As many people have done before, I want to attempt an around the world challenge. I would like to read a non-fiction book about an important part of that country's history, an important figure or an important event. Then I would like to pair that with a fiction book written by someone from that country that compliments the subject of the non-fiction book.
I asked AI to suggest some for Afghanistan to get the ball rolling and it said Ghost Wars: The Secret History of the CIA, Afghanistan, and Bin Laden from the Soviet Invasion to September 10, 2001 (non-fiction) and The Sandstorm by Tamim Ansary (fiction).
First off I can't see to find the book 'The Sandstorm' secondly, I am curious to what others suggest.
