This is not a request for superhero stories. I liked the detective stuff and the rainy noir setting (I already like gothic horror). I like that it’s edgy, gritty, and takes itself seriously. I like the love interest and their push-and-pull (reminds me a bit of Daredevil and Elektra in the tv series, which I also enjoyed). I also really liked that it wasn’t just a “detective case” to solve but also that the protagonist grows as a person by the end (he realizes the city also needs hope, not just fear, and the entire film hints/says he could help more as Bruce Wayne). Plus the action is grounded and cool.
It’s hard to describe what exactly makes me like this, but I really liked the movie. I don’t want a caricature of a noir detective story, I want to be able to take the story seriously. I hope I’m making sense.
