I love how the first half of Avatar is all about the beauty and majesty and alienness of Pandora. The second half with the war between aliens and humans was fine, it just felt very predictable and stereotypical, what really captivated me was the magical jungle and all of its creatures. Are there any books that scratch that itch? Scifi or fantasy where the world we're exploring is so different and vibrant and interesting that it is a main focus of the story?

    1. The Edge Chronicles maybe? It’s a middle grade series but the world building is next level. The first books takes place in a deep forest with lots of unique creatures and fantasy races.

    2. You could try Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer. It’s super mysterious scifi set in ‘area x’, an area the reader and protagonist know almost nothing about. There is a plot, but it’s kind of ambiguous and left a bit unexplained as the focus is exploring this location and trying to find out about it.
