Suggest me a book with a strong female protagonist (preferably a single mom) experiencing financial precarity

I'm in between jobs (in 2 weeks) and I'm feeling like I need a pick me up/change of perspective.

When things get tough, my go-to is a Tree grows in Brooklyn. I love how the women are strong, but soft, and just bad ass regardless of the shit life throws their way. I find it very soothing to know that life goes on, happiness can still be found, even in moments that could very well be "the worst times". Also, it encourages me to be more frugal and minimalist.

So, if you got one, I'd love to hear your suggestions!
