Bunnicula, for when she’s older and can reach some easy chapter books. I loved those.

    2. Ferdinand by Munro Leaf – for young ones

Any book with illustrator David Catrow (he’s amazing!)

Where the Red Fern Grows – by Wilson Rawls (for 8 and older. I’d read it as an adult because it’s that good)

The Snail & The Whale by Julia Donaldson. All of her children’s books are wonderful, but I love this one in particular.

Whoever You Are by Mem Fox.

Giraffes Can’t Dance by Giles Andreae.

    4. I am a Bunny by Ole Risom. Richard Scarry does the illustrations and they are gorgeous and colorful. It’s the first book I learned to read and it’s still among my favorites.

The piggy and elephant books are super cute. My son got 2 of them with the plushies and 2 of the pigeon books with the plushie at khols.

    6. Don’t Push the Button is a great silly one. The Scaredy Squirrel series is fun too. The Day You Begin by Jacqueline Woodson is a beautiful picture book. Everything Mo Willems. Narwhal and Jelly, of course.

Jason Reynolds apparently published a picture book this year. I’m getting it for my kids this Christmas. I don’t even remember the title, but I can’t imagine him writing a book that isn’t an absolute must read for kids.

    7. Knight Owl by Christopher Denise

Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Reuben

      Anatole by Eve Titus

The Little Critter books by Mercer Mayer
