Simply-Be on November 5, 2023 12:06 am Wow. I love all of those books except ‘The Mountains Sing’ which Is never heard of. So thanks for that inadvertent recco. I would suggest ‘The Good Earth’ by Pearl Buck. Should check all your boxes. Hope you like it.
LeeAnnLongsocks on November 5, 2023 12:09 am ‘The Art of Hearing Heartbeats’ by Jan-Philipp Sendker, and ‘The Orphan Keeper’ by Camron Wright were both phenomenal books.
afoolsaxiom on November 5, 2023 12:57 am A lot of Kamila Shamsie’s writing fits the bill, especially Burnt Shadows.
Peppery_penguin on November 5, 2023 2:19 am Maybe a little outside your request but I suggest *Brotherless Night* by V.V. Ganeshananthan set in the Sri Lankan civil war of the 80s and 90s.
