I like to think of myself as pretty bookish. I have two English degrees and teach Literature, but I had never heard of My Brilliant Friend until NYT published their list. I just picked it up!
Clearly, I missed the boat on that one, but I enjoyed it. I’m curious why you think the book received this top honor? Does it have to do with the quality of the story? The political significance of the work?
