I used to read a lot of fiction/fantasy books as a child, it was really easy to find new books and I generally liked all of them.
Now in my adult years, as my life moved forward I moved away from fiction, and the last few years I've read non-fiction almost exclusively. But I feel like I'm missing out on so many books out there, I wish I could read fiction easily again.
Life has been hard the last few years, so in general I've avoided media where people make progress in their lives, if that makes sense. Like, woman meets man, they get married and have kids eventually, for example, or person with great ambitions goes out and achieves all their dreams.
My favorite Tv show for some time has been the Good Place (they are all dead!), and favorite books have been The Anthropocene Reviewed by John Green, How to be Perfect by Michael Schur, and My mess if a bit of a life by Georgia Pritchett, which don't really have a narrative behind. EDIT: forgot to add, my favorite movie to rewatch is The French Dispatch!
The only fiction book I managed to read two years ago was Normal People by Sally Rooney. I tried to read Grown Ups by Marian Keyes, but couldn't make it past the first few chapters, the characters were too annoying and I disagreed with most of their choices.
I hope all this doesn't sound too messy or make me a too complicated person to recommend books to. I just miss reading stories, but it's also hard to read stories of people succeeding in life while mine has been a bit stuck.
Grateful for any suggestions you may have, and thanks for taking the time!
