Hi all!
I am unsure if there is a reddit that would be better for this, but I cannot find one that does this. If it exists, please let me know so I can redirect my query 😊
So the thing is that there is a sci fi book that I simply cannot recall what is.
The book I more than 15-20 years, since that is around the time I read it. It could easily be one of the older golden days sci fi, but I am unsure if that is the case.
The setting is the far future. There is a (maybe) galactic empire that is decadent and falling.
The elite is rewarded by going into stasis/cryosleep and thereby jump in time. So the live maybe a month, then sleep for 10 years and so on.
This is one of the main causes for the crumbling empire, since the best people are taken out of circulation.
The main character at some point starts to interact with a vice minister of colonial affairs. There is something in my mind that wants this figure to be the actual (but unknowingly) the most important figure for change in the empire.
And this is what my failing memory can come up with.
I may even be mixing up 2 novels, but in my mind this goes together.
Can anyone help me out here? I thought maybe it was Foundation (by asimov) but the summaries I read don't really align with this (and the tv series is totally different, at least so far).
Edit: the question actually comes as I thought it was from Foundation, but the tv series contain nothing like this, so I am obviously mixing things together, and would like this mystery solved.
