I've just finished The Future Was Color by Patrick Nathan, In Tongues by Thomas Grattan, and Boy Parts by Eliza Clark, which means that, entirely by happenstance I've managed to read three extremely miserable books about queer people just this month, and I know I've read far, far more than that over the past decade. So to try and balance that out and see more than just a downpour of their sorrows and miseries, I'm wanting to find a historical queer novel that also showcases their happiness and the positive turns in their lives, even if the backdrop remains sad in and of itself – you can live in terrible times and still make your own happiness. I don't at all mind it including sadness and misery, but I really need it to also have some turns with positivity!
All that said, I'm not really looking for easy reading fluffy romance books; I tend much more towards litfic. I have a preference for M/M couples but would be happy with any level of LGBT content. I'd be psyched to see non-Western authors suggested. Thank you all in advance!!
