    Hey fellow Redditors,

As we're nearing the end of 2024, I wanted to ask: what's the best non-fiction book you've read this year?

Share your top pick with me. I'm looking for something new to read and I trust your recommendations.

    1. An Immense World by Ed Yong- all about different ways animals sense the world around us. every new chapter blew my mind.

    2. Well, I wouldn say mid-september is “end of 2024” haha, but “Sketches of the criminal world” by Varlam Shalamov left a deep impression on me. The first third is non-fiction, the other 2/3rds of the book is fiction, but inspired by Shalamovs own experience with the Russian Mob.

Very incisive and insightful, it is on of the books which leave a big impression on you long after you’ve read it. Also recommended to anyone who romantizices criminals, a phenomen which is sadly all to common in our world.
