Hi everyone! Posting for the first time because I have a specific itch that I need some help with!

I’m looking for books where the MC(s) are exploring large/endless/maze like houses. Usually in search of hidden secrets or truths either about the house or the MC. For example, I LOVED Piranesi and Gideon the Ninth.

Final note, I don’t like horror 🙁 so from what I heard House of Leaves would fit this perfectly but unfortunately I’m a scaredy cat!

    Thanks y’all!

Piranesi is one of my favorite books EVER! If you haven’t read Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell yet, absolutely do, though it doesn’t fit your request.

For house exploration, maybe try [Bitter Orange](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/38589871-bitter-orange?from_search=true&from_srp=true&qid=fD1wdfyc8C&rank=1) by Claire Fuller. It’s a little unsettling, but I would not call it horror. Also, how do you feel about YA? It’s been ages since I read it, but I recollect that Garth Nix’s [Keys to the Kingdom](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/47613.Mister_Monday?ref=nav_sb_ss_4_9) series takes place in a huge, fantastical house with many levels to explore. Last thing I’ll throw out there is [Neverwhere](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/14497.Neverwhere?ref=nav_sb_ss_1_10) by Neil Gaiman. It’s not a house, but rather a fantasy underbelly of London and a lot of it takes place within the mazes of the London Underground system. It’s heavy on the dreamy exploration front, though, sort of along the lines of Piranesi.
