I’m looking for a strong emotive horror plot (or any related genre) that one cannot know how it will end

I'm back to reading with "The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires" by Grady Hendrix. I loved it.

I loved:
-The horror theme
-The suspense
-The story of bonding and social redemption of the protagonists

I have already bought another book by the author, but I am new to the genre and I am looking for other horror/thrillers (any related genre) etc. by different writers that could give to me a strong emotive plot that one cannot know how it will end.
Do you have any suggestions? Thank you very much!
