I'm actually looking for my two nephews, ages 13 and 14. Their parents are conservative Christians, and I'm not trying to get kicked off the holiday invite list, so I'm specifically looking for books in which the protagonist is a cis boy, either straight or no romance. Any race is fine. Violence okay (and probably preferred, at least by the 13 yr old). And the kicker: trying to find something that has come out in the last handful of years.
I read a lot of YA fantasy myself, but most of the books I read and like have a very diverse cast of characters, so I'm struggling.
I gave them Unraveller by Francis Hardinge last year, and they liked it, and that's about all I've been able to find on my own.

Have they read any of the Rangers Apprentice books? My boys loved those.
‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ since the Bible heavily inspired it.
The *Dark Gifts* trilogy by Vic James is multi-POV, but it does focus a lot on the teenage sons
