I’ve just broken up a week ago after a 3 year old relationship. I’m looking for something touching, that will make me tear up and ideally with some relationship elements to it.
I usually read Japanese authors (Dazai, Soseki) but I’m also into writers like Proust and Pessoa. I don’t mind a slow paced and descriptive plot as long as there is some character development.
Would prefer something not too lengthy, do not wanna feel depressed for the rest of my life ya know.

There is a short book I’ve gotten in the habit of reading around Christmas. It’s called ‘The Last Noel’. It starts out in the 60’s and follows two friends dealing with the problems interracial couples went through back then. Its beautiful and concise. It takes place around christmas when they find themselves reuniting and goes on for about four decades.
