My wife loves to read and is a huge book worm but I grew up playing video games more than reading. Recently I’ve been getting this itch to pick up a book and read it but most books just seem hard to keep track of in my mind. Are there any I guess beginner books out there for an adult who doesn’t really read. If it helps I like nature and anything outdoor related, animals, different cultures, music.

The Witcher series may be good for you as the video games are based on the series and the first two books are short and simple enough to get to grips to while preparing you for entering a high fantasy tale.
Also playing video games is a valid hobby- like reading its exploring a story (unless it’s FIFA)
Another vote for The Martian. Easy read, funny, pretty short.
Also, since you mentioned nature/animals, check out Last Chance to See by Douglas Adams. Great book about him searching for endangered species. Hilarious too (he is the author of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy).
World War Z is the main book I recommend for people wanting to get into reading. The diary type writing for me is easy to read and keep engaged.

Giant monsters emerge from the earth and start the end of the world as we know it. A higher intelligence has other plans though and humanity is forced to make dire choices in order to survive, if that’s even possible?!
This series follows a variety of people, in different locations and positions of power across the country, as they all struggle through the chaos and destruction in a desperate attempt at survival. Lots of cussing throughout the books… but given the circumstances the characters are in, I’d cuss a lot too🤷♂️

You may try Braiding Sweetgraas by Robin Wall Kilmmerer . This is a beautiful book about nature written as a collection of very short stories by a native American Indian whom is also a botanist. So rewarding and beautiful she intertwines native stories about interacting with nature.
Maybe read books about video gaming to get your feet wet? Ready, Player One might be a nice easy read to ease into it.
