    Hi guys,

My team at work is doing a secret santa this year, and the main thing I know about my recipient is that a few years ago she started a quest to eventually read a book from every country in the world. Unfortunately I don’t know the full list of countries she’s covered so far, although I’m pretty sure she’s covered Croatia, Sweden, South Africa, the US and the UK at least.

I’d like to at least look into getting her a book as a gift and figure if it can also tick off one of her global literature boxes, so much the better! Thought I’d see if you guys have any suggestions of good books (ideally not so rare as to be unobtainable at a budget) from countries not mentioned above?

Couple things: If possible I’d like to avoid works that contain explicit sex scenes or intense study of themes like child abuse/torture/terminal illness in a way that makes the book a really uncomfortable read. I know hard themes tend to win a few literary awards, and if she wanted to seek that out on her own time that’d be all to the good, but I’d rather not give her the gift of discomfort, you know? Uplifting/romantic/comedic preferred.

I know she likes cheesy romcoms, Eurovision, cats (the animals), and so-bad-they’re hilarious b-movie creature features.

For complicated reasons anything that references bus stops would be very funny.
