I was recently captivated by Murray’s epic tragicomedy, The Bee Sting, and am looking for similar reads. Just picked up a copy of Skippy Dies, but I’m curious if there are any similar authors/books you’d recommend. I especially enjoyed the relatable (yet intriguing) characters and the omnipresent feeling of unease that hung over the plot.

Following this thread as I loved the Bee Sting as well!
Try Donal Ryan. He’s a great Irish author. The Spinning Heart; From a Low and Quiet Sea etc.
His earlier books are better IMO
I also adored The Bee Sting!
Have you read Roddy Doyle’s books? Not as long/epic but really lovely. I also just thought of Claire Keegan—I read and truly loved Foster and Small Things Like These.
