Hello all, I hope you are doing well. I have recently developed a craving for thriller/mystery books, which I do not have at my current place so I am looking for some suggestions. Although I love classics like Sherlock Holmes, I would like something with more suspense and hardships, along the lines of “pieces of her” by Karin Slaughter. I am mentioning this book also because I would like a story with a female protagonist who works as an agent (like criminal minds, NCIS, CSI and so on) and is very good at her job but makes everyone hate her to keep them away to protect them from the dangers and tragedies in her life (very heavy stuff). Along the way she develops a romance with the boss/a colleague (not necessarily straight) but then she has to pretend to be a criminal and they all turn on her (they either arrest her or start to hunt her down).
Ultimately the truth comes out though.
I prefer happy endings, though I realise that it’s kind of a contradiction, seeing as I’m asking for tragic stories and stuff like that. But I have had this story in mind for so long and I’d like a book that satisfies my craving.
Still, even if the book you’re thinking of suggesting only checks one of the aspects I listed, or none at all, but it’s a good thriller, please let me know the title.
For example, I really enjoyed the Millennium Series and I am thinking of reading “They Never Learn” by Layne Fargo and the Hannibal Lecter Series.
Thank you in advance
