Just feeling kind of bummed and sad about my utterly mediocre, unspectacular, and mundane life. Please recommend me books to match my mood/vibe. Looking for books that have that indie movie feel where everything is just realistic, non-incredible, and a bit slower.
A book I liked off the top of my head is Eleanor oliphant is completely fine.
Bonus points if it has anything to do with the art world or museums!
Thank you in advance!! 🙏🏼

I’m reading Diary of a Void by Emi Yagi and I think you’d enjoy it! It’s about a person who fakes a pregnancy originally to get better treatment at work but then she sort of starts to romanticize the life she could be having instead of the one she actually has, where she is single and not pregnant and works at a kind of boring job.
Have you read Stoner? It is so so good and I feel like it hits every mark you’re seeking – except its “world” is a University, not a museum.
A thousand splendid suns by Khaled Hosseini.
It’s about hardships of people during Afghanistan resolution. It’ll make you appreciate the mundane and boring life. It’s a life changing read.
I Want to Die But I Want to Eat Tteokbokki by Baek Se-hee
