Recently on my Xbox store a new tab has appeared named "games inspired by books"
Now the obvious games such as metro, Witcher, tom Clancy etc are on the list which I knew beforehand are based on books but two that caught my eye are assassin's creed and bioshock
Does anyone know what books these are based off because I have no clue and I'm quite interested. My only guess would be 1984 for bioshock but that's about it
Edit: spec ops the line is also featured on this list which has made me even more confused

I doubt. There is a Bioshock book that is a prequel to the game, but the game started first
[Assassins creed source](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassin%27s_Creed)
**Alamut** by *Vladimir Bartol*
Supposedly a source for some of the original Assassin’s Creed storyline and concept.
**Heart of Darkness** by *Joseph Conrad*
Inspiration for Spec-Ops: The Line.
For Bioshock, the narrative was inspired by a host of dystopian novels including 1984, Atlas Shrugged, Brave New World, and Logan’s Run. (Source article: https://web.archive.org/web/20130531030452/http://www.edge-online.com/features/making-bioshock/)
Bioshock originates as a rebuttal to Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged.
Ayn Rand envisioned a utopia of the exceptionals and Bioshock responds “It would all go to hell.”
