    I feel that so many of the books I’ve read this year are just too simple. The author spells out the moral or the ideas feel tired. I want to read a book that is well written and will potentially change my perspective. Some books that I have enjoyed recently are The Vanishing Half, On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous, and The Picture of Dorian Grey.

    1. A few I found thought provoking:

      Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stewart

      Beautyland by Marie-Helene Bertino

      The Promise by Damon Galgut

      Remote Sympathy by Catherine Chidgey

    2. Notes on an Execution by Danielle Kukafka. Really made me think about the death penalty and the way we talk about serial killers/murderers.

    3. {{Why We Lie: The Source of our Disasters by Dorothy Rowe}}

      {{Innumeracy: Mathematical Illiteracy and Its Consequences by John Allen Paulos}}

      {{The Drunkard’s Walk: How Randomness Rules Our Lives by Leonard Mlodinow}}

      The Bee Sting by Paul Murray! So many layers, so richly and beautifully written. I can’t stop thinking about it.
