I recently read Where the Crawdads Sing and overall… not great! I found a lot of the characters kind of thin, and even with a murder mystery I was never really surprised or intrigued.

But I actually LOVED reading about the ecology and wildlife of the marshes. I’ve honestly forgotten a lot about this book already, but so much of the nature descriptions stayed with me and left an impression. Looking up the author, I found out she’s a zoologist (and, uh, some other stuff), which made a lot of sense since those sections had the most heart imo. I’ll probably never read this again, but I have at least a somewhat positive memory of it because of this.

So what are yours? What books would you never recommend, but couldn’t help but enjoy aspects of?
