Semi recently I have taken to listening to audiobooks, so I can read while doing other things, get through books quicker, since I'm a rather slow reader, or to help me sleep.
I always listen to previews of audiobooks before buying them, to make sure I can stand the way someone sounds doing the reading. I've been listening to Sarah Pekkanen's "House of Glass", because I've read a few of her other books, and find them interesting.
I thought I could handle the voice of the woman doing the reading for this book, (Laura Benanti), based on the preview, but I'm three or so hours into this one, and I keep having to stop it, because the narrator's manner of speaking is irritating me.
It is hard to explain why. It's like she reads in a manner that makes it sound like every single little thing is a surprise. Even the most mundane of sentences. Now that I've noticed it, it is all I can hear, and its driving me nuts!
Has anyone else had such a problem when trying to listen to an audiobook?
