Need book recs for memoirs and fiction novels about addiction written by the same author
Hi, just as the title says, I’m hoping to find some authors who have written both a memoir about their addiction (or at the very least discuss addiction in their autobiography) and a fictional story featuring addiction/an addict
Not the actual author’s struggle, but Ellen Hopkins wrote a fictionalized retelling of her real-life daughter’s struggle with meth. I know you’re looking for two separate recommendations by the same author, but this kind of is both?
Ellen wanted to understand her daughter’s struggle with addiction so she chose to write a book from her daughter’s POV as a sort of therapy for her. She ended up adopting her daughter’s children and then wrote a third book about it from *their* perspective.
It’s called Crank. It has two sequels, Glass and Fallout. She writes in-verse so each page is a few lines. Great series.
