Have you read a textbook on any subject that was fun to read?
The Story of Philosophy by Bryan Magee should be mandatory reading. I was genuinely hooked and it was a TEXTBOOK. The history of mostly Western philosophy was laid out very clearly, with lots of insights and overarching themes that connected each school of philosophy to all the other schools. There were lots of pictures of art, little blurbs on the sides with cool facts and histories, key works that the philosophers wrote, bigger text for famous quotes. Look it up on archive dot org to see a little of what I mean. I would read any discipline if it was real language, was aesthetically pleasing, and pointed out the relevance along the way in a logical chain, preferably with some art or interesting graphics thrown in. You can dive into technical topics without being so boring, though I understand why textbooks are boring. Thank you for the help!
