This question is probably asked a million times on this sub but I didn't end up liking a lot of the obvious best sellers labeled as Christie-esque.

Anthony Horowitz books like Magpie Murders feel too modern for me. I think I'm just not big on all the references to pop culture and current events because it dated the books too much. I've read three so far and while I liked them it didn't scratch that same itch.

I'm a big fan of Detective Conan and Columbo so obviously the story doesn't have to be written in the early 1900s or take place in it. But too many reminders of how modern it is takes me out of the story.

I'm not opposed to YA or children's books being recommended cause murder mysteries are my candy/palette cleansers and I'm not elitist about them. I remember I loved Herculeah Jones as a child. As long as it's well written I can appreciate anything.

I also liked Wilkie Collins which is even older than Christie. So I'm open to older books too!
