I just got medicated for ADHD for the first time since I was 12. I am now 27, so I have struggled to read for enjoyment for literally 15 years. I used to be voracious. I am looking to ease back into reading, and I love fantasy.

That being said, I am very sensitive to super stressful/frustrating plots. It stresses ME out 😂 I am not ready for that quite yet. I particularly hate the whole “reader or protagonist knows what is really going on, but all of the (other) characters have a constant misunderstanding” thing.

Despite my reading struggles, I am a decent writer and have a degree in a related field, so I also need it to be an actual good story with good writing.

I don’t mind some tasteful romance, but I absolutely despise those ACOTAR books and the like. Couldn’t get past page one.

My favorite book is The Picture of Dorian Gray, for reference.

    2. I’ve suggested it several times on here, but “The Bound and the Broken” by Ryan Cahill. Start with The Fall and short novella that kicks things off. You can get the ebook for free from Ryan’s website for just signing up for his newsletter. So there are 3 books and 3 novellas, and then book 4 comes out early next year.
