The Pop Sugar reading challenge has "read a book set 24 years before you were born" and Google is not helping me. I think if a third of the book is 1966 I can count it but have struggled to find one that is specifically in 66.
I know Valley of the Dolls by Jacqueline Susan spent much of the year on the NYT Top 10 Book Review…but it takes place years earlier…
Tough one, good luck.
In Cold Blood by Truman Capote was published in in 66’…but again the events were in the late 50’s…
Thanks, I’m going to continue to think…have a good one.

Here’s some suggestions. They’re not all set entirely in 1966 but at least some of the plot takes place then. If you want to find more suggestions, instead of Googling ‘books set in 1966’, try looking up historical events that occurred in that year and then looking for novels about those events, such as the Vietnam War or the 1966 World Cup. I’m assuming it needs to be fiction, otherwise this whole question would be pointless as it would be very easy to find.
* Rosemary’s Baby, by Ira Levin
* The Women, by Kristin Hannah
* The Devil’s Cockpit, by Manning Lee Stokes (sounds awful, but is set entirely in 1966)
* The Dog That Saved The World (Cup), by Phil Earle (it is meant for toddlers, but is set in 1966 and it would be a quick one for the reading challenge).
