I have read a bunch of the standard fantasy books and am looking for the next one to jump into! I'll start with my wants for the series and then I'll talk about what I've read (I've read a few things):
Requirements
* good and memorable characters
* decent magic system
* good plot hooks (not just the same old hero's journey)
Previously read books
* wheel of time
* stormlight archives
* mistborn
* the rest of Brandon sandersons stuff
* dungeon crawler carl
* first law
* Harry Potter
* powder mage
* bobiverse
That's all I can think of. I'd love to see your suggestions!

The October Date series by Seanan McGuire is great. The first two books are good but after you get past those the books only get better and better. The first book is Rosemary and Rue.
Licanius Trilogy has a good first book!
I had insomnia one night and read 60 pages. I then decided to get the other two books. Really enjoyed the first one.
A lot of the details were beyond me (I needed a glossary and a who’s who of characters) but I enjoyed it!
*The Faithful and the Fallen by John Gwynne.* I started this series not knowing much about it. So I was a bit shocked by the amount of POVs and characters that were introduced at the beginning and felt a bit overwhelmed. However, once I found my rhythm, I absolutely loved this series and grew attached to many characters. I raced through all four books back-to-back.
