I’m looking for a good book to dip my toes into the horror genre. Nothing too terrifying or slow-placed, and if it’s autumnal themed, I’m all in. I’m a big fan of short, suspenseful chapters too!
The Shining – great fall setting at the beginning, moving into a winter setting

The Toll by Cherie M. Priest
Four and Twenty Blackbirds by Cherie M. Priest
The Ballad of Black Tom by Victor LaValle

{{The Halloween Tree by Ray Bradbury}} and {{The Thief of Always by Clive Barker}} are fun to read this time of year.
I’m currently re-reading {{The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova}} for about the 50th time. It is a Dracula story, but it’s more like a Cold War/Indiana Jones type of story too. It’s a lot of fun.
