So Colleen Hoover and good romance are a controversial topic, understand. A while ago I was at a store and two women were about to buy Ugly Love and one of them asked if it was the one with the big balls, and I was laughing.
Still, people like her books for reasons that make sense: easy to read, alluring men, and her books have the most influential demographic to them: >!18-28 yo white women!<, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
That being said, there are some of her characters that I completely get the hatred for and fans with…weird tendencies.
For example:
Ryle pushed Lily down the stairs and a lot of people appreciated that it showed the “you’re the exception rule” that’s cited as a bad thing, but you’ve got people on TikTok, young fans mid you, making jokes about him doing this to her and…..yikes.
And with November 5 more days to go, having the guy who >!burned down your house, gave you scars and approaching them by overly sexualizing her!<even when they meet is a little suss.
