Any books that predate historical events or help understand

I just read Homage to Catalonia and I thought it was interesting how the events affected Orwell’s future writings. (I also found the fourth turning & love letter to America interesting, both of these were more predictive writings tho). Any suggestions for both nonfiction and or fiction books (primarily from past) that predate and help understand future events?
