I recently fell down a rabbit hole researching the dark side of seeking enlightenment–“Jerusalem/India syndromes”, silent retreats that have ended in people going missing and having fatal psychotic episodes, etc.–and am craving more. The books I read were Lost in the Valley of Death and the Enlightenment Trap. Both were incredible, and it's got me craving diving into books about all-consuming obsessions. I know this is hyperspecific but I'm really stuck on this topic and fascinated by the psychology and consequences of obsession (the obsession can be with anything, not just enlightenment, though I would kill for another book about that). Does anyone have anything for me?
