I am looking for a book with an accessible vocabulary (I am going to read it in my 2nd language) that is really scary, that is suspenseful, realistic, gothic, that has history, horror, that is gripping and from the last 30 years… contemporary. I know these are difficult characteristics to gather so I will settle for a book that gathers most of them.
by fear i mean human being's evil, the natural evil in everyone. not things that don't exist like monsters… things that are real. like the devil and simply a macabre or sadistic person.
maybe a mix between the movie martyrs 2008 and the story of vlad the impaler.
