Slightly inspired by my recent forray into Alan Moore's Jerusalem, my lifelong fascination with Ulysses by James Joyce, and other books.

One of the books I have next on my to-read list is The Almanac of the Dead by Leslie Marmon Silko, alongside with Dumas' Count of Monte Cristo and couple of other books, but from more than 100 years ago. I'd like to get into something more modern – let's say, from 80s to today. Big plus if this is a real slab of a book. The main thing is, I really am in the mood for something of a real literary feast, or perhaps something really epic without being too phantasmagorical or using too much of suspension of disbelief.

    Anyone?
