I loved Angels and Demons, and The DaVinci Code, and pretty much all of his books. The mix of puzzles and history and action is just enthralling to me. Steve Berry’s **The Templar Legacy** comes to mind. I haven’t read the rest of the Cotton Malone series.
I will say this, I found the prologue off-putting and stopped reading it.
